I wanted to know what I really had to prepare for. Until now I have been mentally putting this birth thing in a locked vault inside my head. Right now the only thing I have ready is the overnight bag that I didn’t even pack! (I hope Joanne didn’t put my bathing suit in there to make a funny joke.)

So as a responsible husband I googled the word “birth.” Holy shit. All those people who have told me, “it’s such a beautiful thing!” are all liars. I hate you guys. There must be a secret society out there that withholds the real details of what really happens with birth. Simply put. It’s a Quiten Tarintino horror film come to real life.
Ok lets break this down.

  • The husband wearing scrubs.
I thought this was to help encourage a clean environment.
    Real Deal.
    Fluids. Need I say more?

  • The husband holding the wife’s leg.
    Real Deal.
So she can’t kick the crap out of you.

  • Letting wifey hold your hand during labor and birth.
    Real Deal.
Give her the hand that has your wedding band and try to give her the ring finger to squeeze. It will be the only solid piece of metal that will support the crushing force that will ensue. Mine is made of platinum. One of earth’s strongest metals.

  • Make the wifey as comfortable as possible.
    Real Deal.
This is really for your own safety so she doen’t try to kill you for giving her a sperm infection.

Ok.. all joking aside. As scarey as all this may be.. I can’t wait to experience this with Joanne. She is perfect to me and I can’t wait to pass some of her genes into society. Hahaha!.. that just made this whole thing sound like a science project.

    Mwhahah!
Joanne: Gee, Keith, what are we going to do tonight?
Keith: The same thing we do every night, Joanne – try to take over the world!

I have installed a plugin which reformats the website when viewing the site through an iphone. It compresses the website and makes the viewing much cleaner. If you prefer not to have that view there’s an option in the footer of site for you to easily switch between the WPtouch view and the site’s regular appearance. Yup it’s that easy. Now only if they made one for Blackberry Storms.

Okay technically Joanne and I are supposed to have a baby right now… Even with the predatory lending that he committed too and now the threats of eviction on his soon foreclosed womb… he won’t budge. Actually he’s trying too. The doctor believes that Keaton’s head has gone as far as it will go. Yup. He has his mommy’s big head and now he is stuck. So we have a re-scheduled induction at 8am on February 3rd instead of the original February 9th. We are going to see what happens… we are still pushing for “natural” birth. (pun intended) but if all else fails we will have to go for the c-section. We will keep everyone posted.

Sonogram pictures are up. Keaton is so far 7lbs. with 24 days to go. If he hits 9lbs, we will seriously have to consider a c-section.

Another year. Welcome 2009! I hope everyone has had a great year. Another past to remember and more future to plan on.

We only have a few more days of just us together. 24 to be exact. Then we welcome the son that won’t go away until he’s at least 18. Which gets me thinking… How do we raise him? Where do we click to make him download the latest upgrades? How do we program him to have discipline, love, patience and knowledge. What is the one thing that will make him understand those? Will love teach him discipline? Will discipline teach him knowledge? It’s a little odd, but we raise children to learn how to live without us. I can look back and pinpoint different things in my life that made me who I am. It really is a miracle how I landed on those exact moments/lessons with a perfect frame of mind to learn that lesson in my life. Another person can have those exact moments placed in front of them and interpret differently. Just exactly how do I line up those same sequences that molded us for Keaton? Timing is going to have to be crucial. It will probably have to start somewhere in the 80′s and since history repeats itself, the timing should be just about right.

Now after that is in place, then influence is next. Influence by people. It’s the biggest influence I can think of unless they are people with a pocket full of drugs and peer pressure. Ok, seriously. We all have role models. People come and go in our lives and make many different impacts. It’s good to know that the people who have made these impressions in our lives will be a part of our son’s life. With these people it forms a pretty good platform. With these people combined we have respect, patience, culture, knowledge, love, kindness, self discipline and so much more. Of course a lot is due to parents also.

Respect. Learn when to give. Learn when to take. Learn your place in all of your friends lives. Learn your boundaries. You don’t talk down to me, and I don’t talk down to you. Especially family. The worst part with family is that we know what hurts the most.. so why go there? You don’t cross the line and I won’t either. It’s simple. Just show some respect, I don’t care if your the pope. You will remove your shoes when you come in the house of Asia.

Patience and compromise. It’s not always about you. It’s about those in your life too. Compromise with my habits as I will with yours. With patience comes serenity. Also with patience you usually get a better discount.

Culture. To me this is one of the most important. It taught me and my wife that we were different, and that it is ok to be different. Just because we don’t understand someone’s culture doesn’t always make it wrong. We can’t explain why we eat spoiled cabbage called kim-chi. Culture doesn’t have to make sense to everyone. If you don’t like the smell get out. Culture made us stronger and taught us Kung-fu and math, but most importantly it also taught us that dogs can be friends and not just food. See it goes both ways.

I guess you get the point.
