It was a beautiful day to hit the wineries.  Being at a vineyard seems to add a touch of class to the word “drunk.”  Haiving Gavin with a British accent made our trip feel very authentic.  It was funny to see how many ladies were falling in his lap because of his accent! 2010-05-09_13-59-05 After a few more drinks I was telling people that he was our butler.  We only made it to two vineyards.  We are such light weights.  Gavin how come there are no picture of YOU! ?

Our good friend Sascha is taking the lead on the floors.  He is a professional carpenter.. and he was trained in Germany… and did an internship in Switzerland.  Authentic.
Let me know if anyone needs a good carpenter.  The best part is that he is OCD about perfection.

Our house.  In the middle of the street.  Our house needs a lot of work, but we finally have one!  It’s got some character drawbacks.  Really the only drawback is just the size of the house.  When we order a large pizza we have to go outside and eat it.

The personality on our house had a breakdown and stopped caring somewhere around the 70′s.  Purple walls that the artist formerly known as Prince would love.  Tiled ceilings.  Wood paneling everywhere.  A lot of “that was then this is now” remodeling.

So far.  Wood paneling has been ripped down in the dining room.  Wallpaper has had a similar fate as well.  The ceiling in the bedroom had tiled drop ceiling stapled and nailed to the wall.  The whole house looks like a foreclosure with all the demolition going on.  Slowly we are starting to see the progress.  Here are some before pictures

I wanted a piece of the american dream so I bought a condo at 220,000. I was approved with two mortgages and no money down. I was told that this was a great opportunity because the market is at an all time low, but 8 months later the condo was assessed at 172,000 and continues to decline. Not a big deal if it was just me.

Little did I know that I would soon fall deeply in love, marry, and start this amazing family. Two years have passed and now I’m still upside down 50,000 with a son who is starting to walk.I hate being surrounded by chance. With a child who is now a year old, chance is not something I want to place stability on.

I know I am more fortunate than some and I actually have a home, but as I stare at the walk-in closet that may soon be my son’s bedroom the more upset I become. I feel cornered like my son will in his new urban bedroom.

I ask myself how do people do this?! How do people buy a home? It’s simple. It starts right now with Joanne and I. It starts with THIS family. Making a son was pretty easy, but we also have to make a future for him.

Son, your parents will struggle in this generation so you won’t have too. We will build our foundation strong enough for you to build yours. You will learn that our love for you will be steadfast, consistent and honest.. and when your old enough I will sign over this condo.
